Do Incubators need an online platform?
A startup incubator is a collaborative program designed to help new startups succeed. Incubators help entrepreneurs solve some of the problems commonly associated with running a startup by providing workspace, seed funding, mentoring and training. The sole purpose of a startup incubator is to help entrepreneurs grow their business.

More than 1,200 startups came up in 2018, including eight unicorns, taking the total number to 7,200 startups, according to the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM)
But another report has suggested that 90% of the startups are finding it hard to survive even one year. The report suggested that the number of IT startups in the country has slumped to 800 in the first nine months of 2017 from over 6,000 in all of 2016.
The main reason for these startups failing is:
Lack of uniqueness
The study, titled ‘Entrepreneurial India’, states that while the market evaluation of Indian startups has grown in the past four years, 77 percent of the venture capitalists believe they don’t have unique business models.
A very clear indicator would be the number of international patents India has applied for.
In 2015–16, India applied for 1,423 patents, while Japan’s count stood at 44,235, China at 29,846 and South Korea at 14,626.
Given that,
The population of Japan:12.68 crores (2017)
The population of India:133.92 crores (2017)
The population of China:138.64 crores (2017)
The population of South Korea:5.15 crores (2017)
The ration of the population to patents of India is very embarrassing in front of South Korea and Japan and even China for that matter.

The major reasons for this lack of uniqueness can be attributed to the inexperience of the young entrepreneurs that come up with the business idea and just start doing their business without guidance from experts and much research in the industry.
This is where the incubators come in. Under various initiatives of the Indian government like Atal Innovation Mission, there has been a steep rise in the number incubators but still, there are many other startups that are worthy and are not being incubated in the incubators due to lack of resources, time.
To supplement the incubators, there is an online mentoring platform MentorBox by ISF Analytica and Informatica which is being made by keeping two sets of people in mind.
- Startups-To get mentored online
- Incubators-To mentor the startups online
